Higher age used to be considered a draft defect, but the 49ers are leaning heavily into the changing nature of college football. Their 3 picks taken before the "developmental" Saturday of the draft average 24.3 years in age. That's the same age or older than 12 players who'd already been on SF's roster. De'Zhaun Stribling — 23.35 Romello Height — 25.03 Kaelon Black — 24.52 The NIL/transfer portal era has created a pro-like dynamic in CFB that's yielded nuggets that would've been unimaginable just last decade: -Stribling led *3 different programs* in receiving -Height played at *5 different schools* Generally, teams want early contributions from Day 1-2 draft picks. Seems that the 49ers are betting on the pre-existing professional experience and maturity of these older prospects with plans that they'll be relatively quick contributors. NFL drafted rookie contract lasts 4 years. That means the 49ers will get the following ages at a cost-controlled price... Stribling: 23-27 Height: 25-29 Black: 24-28 Those are prime years, of course. And perhaps the new, pro-like nature of CFB has indeed combined with Father Time to harden those players for relatively early NFL action

The Stribling pick isn’t the problem. The problem is how they waste every single early pick the last half decade on obvious reaches. If you like em, fine. Your scouting sucks. It’s even worse cuz you can just trade back and get more picks (albeit to waste) on more bad players. They lucky Kyle is so damn good and they still have great older guys on team.

Another big loss for the Philadelphia Eagles front office. Assistant GM, Alec Halaby is stepping away from the organization. He was with the Eagles for 17 years and served as assistant GM under Howie Roseman since 2022. Here's Howie Roseman's statement: "Alec has been a huge part of our success, and a close friend. Although I am sad to see him leave the organization, I am excited to see what he does next. Whatever direction he decides to go, I have no doubt he is going to have great success. On behalf of the entire organization, I wish him the absolute best." #Eagles
