As you may or may not know I’ve been seriously unwell recently meaning I’m currently unable to work as I’m waiting for diagnosis via biopsy results and further multiple surgeries. I’ve already had 4 surgeries two MRI’s & 2 CT’s since the 10th of September 2025 with another MRI coming up soon. I’ve been with the same company for 32 years, can’t fault my company to be honest they’ve been very good to me thus far. Anyway thought I’d apply for universal credit to see what would happen, guess what because my wife and i have worked all our lives paying taxes and saving money via various investments, I’m not going to get a penny in benefits because we have too much in assets. No i can’t rush out and buy a new car or have multiple luxury holidays to spend those assets that is considered deliberate spending. I can though spend it all on home improvements provided i keep the receipts and then provide those receipts to claim again. That’s allowed apparently. It’s either that or eat into my savings so I’m planning a new kitchen and conservatory extension didn’t want to do it just yet but my hand is now forced to do so. Not sure yet now long I’ll be unable to work but it’s at least the next 10 months. I can use my hands to type out my daily moans on here so don’t worry I’m still going to be here to moan about everything going on.
