Female Arms Courier Caught With 438 Rounds of Amm¥nition Sentenced to D+ath in Katsina A Federal High Court in Katsina State has sentenced a woman, Hauwa’u Mukhtar, to d+ath by hanging after finding her guilty of conspiracy to commit t+rrorism and aiding t+rrorist activities. Mukhtar was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on September 16, 2023, at Jibia Motor Park in Katsina while attempting to transport 438 rounds of 7.62mm amm¥nition to a suspected bandit kingpin, identified as Ado, who operates in Zamfara State’s Dunburum Forest. The DSS subsequently charged her before High Court No. 3 in Katsina. During the trial, the prosecution presented evidence, witnesses and exhibits linking the defendant to the crime. Delivering judgment, Justice A. B. Bawale held that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and found Mukhtar guilty on both counts of the charge. The court consequently sentenced her to d+ath by h@nging in line with the provisions of the Katsina State Penal Code Law, 2021. The conviction marks the second d+ath sentence secured by the DSS this month. Earlier in June, a Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced four men to d+ath for their roles in the June 5, 2022 t+rrorist att@ck on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, which claimed more than 40 lives.
