This is exactly what I’ve been saying. How are Tottenham managing to win transfer battles ahead of Manchester United? It just doesn’t add up. I don’t want to hear excuses about wages or transfer fees. If you want to sign top-quality players, you have to be willing to pay for them. It’s frustrating and embarrassing that Spurs, a club not even playing in Europe this season, are beating United to key transfer targets. For a club with Manchester United’s history, stature, and global appeal, that simply shouldn’t be happening.

I hope this deal is fucking over now. A player I would have taken as a 3rd choice if the price was right I hope INEOS fail to bid, instead we bid on Tonali or Tchouameni. Manchester United letting Mateus Fernandes go to Tottenham for £85M guaranteed is the best decision the club has made in years. A player ready to pass up a chance to play in the champions league with Manchester United for no champions league football with spurs says a lot about his mentality. With Real Madrid reportedly open to selling Tchouameni, United should be able to get him for less, or at most the same amount Spurs paid for a midfielder who'd had just one good season under his belt. Then use the rest of the budget to land Tonali from Newcastle. How, and who, we sign after passing up Mateus Fernandes and Elliott Anderson over price will show exactly how serious INEOS actually are about this club.
