My opinion on the actual Iran deal (MEK infiltration of Congress aside):
This may end up being an even bigger tar baby for the Trump administration than actually starting the Iranian war.
This has nothing to do with capitulation accusations or JCPOA comparisons. It's that it's much more than a "what's wrong with wanting peace" thing.
It all comes down to: the deal legitimizes the IRGC.
That legitimacy is going to be the decisive factor for a lot of players, Israel most of all. The moment the US signs across the table from the IRGC, it's treating it as a normal government instead of what the Iranians in exile say, what Israel believed going in, what Trump himself said a few months ago.
My read on why the US did it anyway: they got their interests served, wanted an official "war's over" to run on going into the midterms, and needed to buy time on the Strait of Hormuz. Fair enough on our own terms. Disaster in geopolitics.
IMO, the better outcome was to refuse to legitimize any regime at all, even if that meant no deal and just holding the status quo until we figured out a real answer to Hormuz.

GRAHAM POSITIONS VANCE AS IRAN DEAL’S ARCHITECT
Sen. Lindsey Graham appears to be creating distance between President Trump and the Iran deal, by labeling VP JD Vance as the deal’s architect while raising concerns that Iran’s interpretation differs from that of US negotiators.
Graham welcomed the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz but warned that any final nuclear agreement must come before Congress for approval and said Vance should help present it.
Graham has been one of Trump’s closest allies and a longtime advocate for military action against Iran.

Wondered the same… there’s so much more (not too far beyond this early April rescue) but I’m still of the mindset that it lies within the still unknown elements within the fractured regime… and the subplots running all over the place… so much that as of the MOU’s “announcement” yesterday… we still are calculating but there’s so much that just doesn’t quite compute or align. The shift to one degree or another (in my mind) began around & just beyond the rescue of the US pilots from Iranian soil…
There’s something afoot in those pockets in the central and southwestern provinces… including the biblical Elam… time will tell… 59 days… I just don’t see it making it
