I can't believe some of the responses to this post. I had no clue I was stepping into anything! I was interested in the symptoms list of a disease in the news, not making a political point.

Morning all, it’s now some 5 weeks on from my surgery to remove a massive brain tumour. I am doing very well and I am a bit ahead of where I thought I’d be. Thanks for all the kind messages. I just hope I never have to go through the emotional trauma again

Hi all, having survived a horrid #MDS some 15 yrs ago, it now has become clear I have a brain tumour. I am not panicking, it’s hopefully benign, but it has brought business to an end a bit quicker. None the less I am still here and I still need to get supporters for @MDS_UK

Myelodysplasic Syndromes are pretty rare in the UK. Just 2500 people diagnosed each year. As cancers go the curative options are slim too… What celebrities do you know of that got diagnosed with #MDS??

I’d be interested in a little bit of feedback - roughly 2500 people each year get diagnosed with #MDS - as a charity we support these people, but I would be interested to know what sort of things you think we should be raising money for?

@MartinSLewis @DKMS_uk Thnx for your efforts Martin. Your particular engagement may not have had the impact you’d have liked - but people have been made aware. Whilst my own transplants weren’t always great, at least the final one was a success - and in more ways than just me- made my son a Doctor!

Recently, out of the blue I got a call from @DKMS_uk - the charity that helps people with blood cancer. I'd forgotten that 5yrs ago I did a cheek swab... but the call was to say I was a possible match for someone in urgent need of stem cell or bone marrow transplant. It's a chance to help someone survive who wouldn't otherwise. Unfortunately, having just been through the next stage, I've been ruled out of donating. So to turn that into a positive, I wanted to suggest if you fancy registering to be a donor, if age 18 - 55 you can do it here... dkms.org.uk - and hopefully one of you may be the match that actually saves a life.
