This is an astonishing fact from today’s Sunday Times. At least 224 out of 257 new Labour MPs elected in July 2024 came from either charities or communications/lobbying agencies, or were formerly “political employees”. It explains so much about Labour backbenchers’ priorities.

I heard this direct from those involved. Yesterday, a gentleman arrived home from the hospital for palliative care. He was with his daughter. He was meant to be going on a night out that very evening, for his closest friend who had died accompanied by his daughter. The paramedics contacted GP… community nurses came out. They told the daughter they would make her father “comfortable”. They administered the drugs. And they left immediately. The daughter went back to her father. He was dead. She didn’t get to say goodbye and nor did he He never made that night out. How does a man go from going out that evening… to dead within moments of “comfort”?
