Why Pakistan is caught in a bind if Saudi Arabia activate its defence pact with Pakistan.
1) China is supporting Iran in this US/Israel - Iran war, Pakistan is dependent on China for investment and defence support
2) Pakistan is using Chinese weapon systems - China could turn off support for military grade Beidou-3 satellite navigation system and datalink to the Pakistan, making Pakistan Army blind during a conflict with Iran
3) Pakistan and Iran share a very unstable border in Balochistan where the same ethnic group is trying to declare independence from Iran and Pakistan. A war with Iran will de-stabilize the border region for Pakistan and lead to more insurgency from Balochistan this time with the support of Iran and not just India.
4) Pakistan has a big Shia Muslim population as well. If Pakistan attack Iran - the Shia population in Pakistan will turn against the Pakistan military.
5) Even if Pakistan is successful in shooting a nuclear ballistic missile at Tehran it will not take out the Iranian leadership as it is de-centralized, instead Iran will activate all the Shia militia and Baloch Liberation Army in Pakistan to overthrow the government.
