Kentucky teacher, soccer coach arrested on sexual abuse charge A Madison County teacher and soccer coach has been arrested following an investigation into a reported sexual abuse case involving a 10-year-old student. According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Charles Hamilton voluntarily turned himself in after a warrant was issued in connection with the case. Deputies say the alleged abuse happened during the 2018–2019 school year inside a bathroom at Boonesborough Elementary School during a power outage. The sheriff’s office says the victim was 10 years old at the time of the incident. School officials say they were notified by the Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) on September 8, 2025, that an investigation involving Hamilton had been opened. He was immediately placed on leave pending the outcome. The Madison County School District says Hamilton has remained on leave since that date and has not returned to his teaching or coaching duties. He also served as a girls’ soccer coach at Caudill Middle School. Hamilton is charged with first-degree sexual abuse. The investigation remains ongoing.

Randall Weddle’s Attorney Issues Statement During Defamation Lawsuit Press Conference During Randall Weddle’s scheduled press conference, his attorney made a public statement urging the plaintiffs in a defamation lawsuit against Weddle to drop their case. “If these defamation suits are not dismissed by 5:00 tomorrow, I will line both sides of Main Street in London, Kentucky, with victims, their families, their counselors, their therapists, their lawyers, their supporters. And we’re gonna see the truth.” The lawsuit, filed by former Kentucky State Troopers James and John Phelps, alleges that Weddle made false and damaging statements about them online. The attorney also stated: “If you go down and this case is still pending, we’re going down that rabbit hole. And we’re gonna find everything that’s in it.” And regarding legal costs: “At the end of the day, they will be writing a check to Mr. Weddle.” The press conference, originally set for London City Hall, was relocated to a private venue. No official reason has been provided for the change. The defamation lawsuit remains active in Laurel County Circuit Court.
