@JDNASCARTech I have a question for you. What is your take on the 1990 Mello Yello 500 Earnhardt tire change. I don’t think I’ve ever heard you talk about it. Do you think it handed Dale the Championship? I’ve debated this topic many times but would like to hear your opinion.

@wrangler3chevy Barry Dodson and Tim Brewer getting it done at the Rock! Richmond mixed it up a bit that day. I was the tire guy then 1 1/2 inch spread in the front and 1/2 inch in the rear!

@JDNASCARTech It's a long way from Rural Hall to Road America. Why did your dad decide to enter that race at Road America? Was he racing a full season that year?

My dad, Johnny Dodson Sr leading the great Fireball Roberts in1956 at Road America in the first ever ⁦@NASCAR⁩ cup series race there. He finished10th as the top independent and built his car in a one stall garage in our back yard. 5 yrs before I would be born. ⁦

Once Earnhardt realized how far back our families went in racing, he liked us from then on. We always had a great relationship. My brother Barry was offered the crew chief spot for Earnhardt but turned it down because he couldn’t take me and Brad with him. What might have been.
