Gospel: Jesus fed 5,000 people with just a few loaves and fishes. This was not simply a "miracle of sharing" (i.e., the "nice thought" interpretation). This astounding miracle, included in all four Gospels, is a sign of the abundance of God's love. There is enough for everyone.

With five barley loaves and two fish, Jesus miraculously fed the crowd. We can never underestimate how the Lord will use the efforts, good works and sacrifices we offer to respond to the spiritual and pastoral needs of his people.

Gospel: Listen to Jesus in today's Gospel: We will be judged on how we treated the poor and marginalized: the hungry, sick, imprisoned. "What you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me." We will be separated into "sheep" and "goats," rewarded or punished.
