I am deeply shocked and sorry to learn that Jeff Robbins is no longer with us. He was truly a dedicated mentor, scientist, colleague, and, for me, above and beyond. We will truly miss him, but his science will remain with us forever! Rest in Peace, Jeff!!

Exciting findings by Kirichok´s lab: The mitochondrial ADP/ATP carrier (ACC) serves as uncoupling protein in cardiac myocytes, making UCP2 and 3 unlikely mediators of fatty acid-induced uncoupling. Data also argue against AAC involvement in PTP formation. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Congratulations to Lea Seidlmayer, who published her work on the role of mitofusin 2 for SR-mito Ca transmission via IP3/RyR1! frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…. There may be two distinct domains of SR-mito Ca transmission, a fast one via RyR2/MCU and this slower one. @ChristophMaack
