Johnny Petrishen (@jP5_ERA) won a Lambert Trophy with Penn State in 2017- and then with Pitt in 2021.

@LambertTrophy Insanity in that stadium. Right after warmups, the Miami team tried to lock arms and walk off the field talking shit to the fans. It put that crowd into a frenzy and was loud the whole day. What a scene

The 1942 Lambert Trophy was presented by the Chairman of the Lambert Trophy Trustees, Daniel Higgins, to Rev. John P. Delaney of @BCFootball. This was broadcast live over the radio on WINS. The same Lambert Trophy- with a new base- is now at the US Naval Academy.

@JSNewman87 Yep. Although WVU didn't waste any time- they played a full league slate in 1991, including the first ever Big East Game of the Week to kick off '91 in the Backyard Brawl.

3 Eastern independents- and Miami- could have formed a football-only league with the SWC. Fortunately, we got Big East football instead.

Here's a common one. Q: Why aren't Maryland and Marshall eligible? A: By precedent. In 1952 Maryland votes for Lambert Trophy Champion were not accepted. Also true: the Lambert Trophy was formed to recognize Eastern independents, and both were in conferences during the Trophy's formative years. West Virginia was eligible at least as far back as 1942. Marshall was not.
