Sadly, this act adds to the continuous military attacks against the civilian population and places of worship in Gaza. I again call for an immediate halt to the barbarism of the war and for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. I renew my appeal to the international community to observe humanitarian law and to respect the obligation to protect civilians, as well as the prohibition of collective punishment, the indiscriminate use of force and the forced displacement of the population.
Israel’s shelling of a Gaza church, which has left at least three dead and many injured, is only the latest atrocity in its increasingly murderous and widening regional rampage. devp.org/en/israeli-she…
Caritas Internationalis joins 160+ organisations calling to end the militarised aid system in #Gaza. Over 500 killed and nearly 4,000 injured in less than four weeks while trying to reach food. Read full statement bit.ly/4nqskdX#CeasefireNow
We are witnessing with despair the iniquitous use of hunger as a weapon of war. Burning crops, stealing livestock, and blocking aid are tactics increasingly used by armed militias. As civilians languish in misery, political elites grow fat with impunity. It is time to sanction these abuses and hold accountable those who are responsible for it.
To every human being, every person with a conscience, to all lovers of peace,
After more than a year and a half of death and destruction, the moment we now find ourselves in is terrifying. We are, in essence, sending an SOS: we need your help in #Gaza.

#QuestionOnPalestine@AnitaAnandMP, we hailed your assertion that “we cannot allow the continued use of food as a political tool.” But does it include an exemption for #Israel to use food aid as a killing tool in #Gaza?

If you want #Peace, prepare institutions of peace. This doesn’t refer only to political institutions, whether national or international, but to the entire forum of institutions – educational, economic, and social – that are involved.
@Pontifex We @DevPeace stand with @Pontifex and have expressed our own concern to our Catholic Prime Minister. see our Open letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney | Development and Peace
From #Gaza, the cries of parents rise to heaven ever more intensely as they clutch the lifeless bodies of their children, searching for food and shelter from bombs. I renew my appeal to leaders: cease fire, release all hostages, and fully respect international humanitarian law!
#QuestionOnPalestine
Hey @CanadianPM@MarkJCarney,
A week since your ultimatum to “cease the renewed military offensive,” #Israel has killed 464 additional people in #Gaza*. So, how many more must die before you take those “further concrete actions?”

Pope Leo XIV appeals for peace in Gaza and Ukraine, and between India and Pakistan.
"I carry in my heart the sufferings of the beloved Ukrainian people. Let everything possible be done to achieve an authentic, just and lasting peace as soon as possible. May all the prisoners be freed and may the children return to their families.
I am deeply saddened by what is happening in the Gaza Strip. Cease fire immediately! Let humanitarian aid be provided to the exhausted civilian population and let all hostages be freed.
On the other hand, I am pleased by the announcement of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, and I hope that through the forthcoming negotiations a lasting agreement will soon be reached."
Pope Leo XIV explains his choice of name:
"... I chose to take the name Leo XIV. There are different reasons for this, but mainly because Pope Leo XIII in his historic Encyclical Rerum Novarum addressed the social question in the context of the first great industrial revolution. In our own day, the Church offers to everyone the treasury of her social teaching in response to another industrial revolution and to developments in the field of artificial intelligence that pose new challenges for the defence of human dignity, justice and labour."
The late Pope Francis requested that his popemobile be turned into a health clinic for the children of Gaza, as his legacy of peace continues to shine in our conflict-ridden world.

Breaking: Pope sends letter to US bishops decrying mass deportation and rejecting "any measure that tacitly or explicitly identifies the illegal status of some migrants with criminality." The true ordo amoris, he says, is the ethos of the Good Samaritan.
