@tony_pike15 Two mediocre teams at best. Neither will make the tournament. Their league schedules will be awful for them both. Crosstown Shootout has lost its magic.

@bryce_spalding I will never understand why Lodolo leaves after 14 pitches. In my opinion that is what lost the game.

I love Nick Martinez. I do. The Dodgers wanted nothing to do with Nick Lodolo tonight and we take him out of the game after FOURTEEN PITCHES???? HES GOT THE WHOLE OFFSEASON TO REST

@SBalberg @simmonssteve I remember Gump Worley taking a puck to the face. He would get stitched up & back for the next period. Only Jacque Plant wore a mask. Forgot Gump played for Montreal. Just remember him as a Ranger.

@simmonssteve The equipment they wore back then was minimalistic. No head gear, no mask, not even a mouth or tooth guard, thin pads and then all of a sudden there’s Bobby Hull with a curved stick and a slap shot and then everyone with a curved stick. How they survived is a miracle.

When I started watching hockey, Ed Giacomin was the goalie for the Rangers, Johnny Bower and Terry Sawchuk for Leafs, Gump Worley for Canadiens and Roger Crozier for Detroit. All of them now gone. Still with us; Chicago’s Glenn Hall and Boston’s Ed Johnston and Gerry Cheevers.

@LanceMcAlister Starting defense did not look any better than last year. Borrow scrambling & getting hit especially in an exhibition game should not be happening. Throw the ball away or go down. Not sure if offensive line can protect Borrow. My conclusion is the first quarter leaves me worried.

What is your biggest takeaway from the #Bengals game?

@LanceMcAlister Reds r a mediocre team who will finish around .500. Playoffs r doubtful.

If you add up all the 'tough one' 'get 'em tomorrow' 'tough pitcher today' 'tip your cap' 'just wasn't their day' 'had a chance' 'did have good energy' 'was a good game for ___' .....you will have enough to make the difference between #Reds making playoffs and not.

Remember when people used to be nice?

@LanceMcAlister Reds will struggle to finish at .500. Some players have been huge disappointments while others have been a pleasant surprise. Just don’t think they have the pitching to be a playoff team. Hope I am wrong.

@Boomskie @Sportico @Brewers @MLB @Grampskie Nice article Barry. The Brewers r in the same situation as many other MLB teams. Reds, Pirates, etc develop players & have a short window to win before they leave for richer teams. It’s not an even playing field.
