Nobody is skeptical of autonomous elevators because nobody alive today was even around to see a human elevator operator in real life before the last one got laid off. Automation is far safer.

Considering that this person claims to have annotated "Pride & Prejudice", this is a terrible misreading.
There is no indication that Mr Bennet picked his wife because she's a narrow-thinking woman; we are told that he fell for her because of her looks & has suffered terribly in his marriage because of her silliness. Not only is he not controlling, he buries himself among his books, runs away from his responsibilities, leaves his domineering wife to do her things (we can guess that he has done some parenting with Jane & Elizabeth but seems to have given up with the last 3 daughters), & hides behind his witticisms.
Jane Austen here depicts very well an unhappy marriage between intellectually incompatible people.

@BopDoji46659 @ArthurJSpring I'm sorry that some people are being caustic in their answers. That said, 30 grand is a large overestimation in most cases. Child care can be expensive if you both work. Healthy insured also goes up. Other than that, the costs are pretty low.
