@CarieClen @RutgersAltRoute Class dojo has a feature that allows parents to translate the text in Spanish as well! 😊 my parents mostly speak Spanish so I see they use it a lot

@RutgersAltRoute A5 - English is a second language for many of my parents, so I use google translate to communicate. I also use it for art show displays. All signs/labels are in both English and Spanish. #AltRtEd #TeacherEd #EdTech

@RutgersAltRoute Aside from those at home being able to monitor their child's participation/grades, I use email and phone calls to engage families with positive phone calls home ! #AltRtEd

@FTSD_Donovan @RutgersAltRoute I’m so glad to hear this! I like having that open communication where parents feel they can ask me questions about any concerns. It helps maintain a good relationship with them.

@RutgersAltRoute A5: I use ClassDojo to communicate with my parents and send out any notes or updates that they might have missed. I also used google voice to message or call them when necessary if they do not sign up for class dojo #AltRtEd #5320EdTech

@RutgersAltRoute I believe a definite challenge with technology is that some, including myself at times, become too reliant on tech and when it fails, we sometimes don't have a backup plan #AltRtEd #EdTech

@RutgersAltRoute A4: Although technology is around us everywhere, we will need to consider some 'old ways of teaching that can have a huge impact on generations to come. The thought of actually writing letters or putting ideas on paper seems so ancient in the last 5 years,. #AltRtEd #EdTech

@msspanarkelsays @RutgersAltRoute Yes! It’s really great I love using technology, however learning it for myself and then trying to use it with a room full of students is difficult. Sometimes I worry that I will get stuck and ruin the experience for my students

@RutgersAltRoute There’s so much out there! It’s great to have choice, but sometimes it’s overwhelming. I’ve always taught in very low-tech environments abroad, so I always feel like I’m playing catch-up on the tech side of teaching. #AltRtEd #EdTech

@RutgersAltRoute A4: I think the most challenging part about integrating technology has been how fast paced it has been. Since the pandemic started the technology era has gone full speed ahead and sometimes it can be overwhelming #AltRtEd #5320EdTech

@DjuricGianna @RutgersAltRoute That’s great! It’s awesome to have that support and help from another teacher. We all need that even if you’re a veteran teacher or a new teacher.

Collaboration is an important opportunity for novice and veteran teachers to seek advice, wisdom, and assistance from their peers. Consider the role of technology in this process. #AltRtEd #EdTech

@RutgersAltRoute A3: Currently my practice for collaboration is thorough emails throughout the week, but every thursday we have our PLC meetings to discuss our week, and how we can go about certain topics, more thorough lessons, etc. #AltRtEd #EdTech

@RutgersAltRoute A3: During professional developments I try to take full advantage and get as much information from other teachers from other campuses. Everybody teaches differently so it’s refreshing to hear new perspectives on how to teach a topic and what works for them.

@TrueGem86 @RutgersAltRoute My campus uses IXL as well and administration is pretty good about making sure every teacher incorporates it because it is a good resource

@RutgersAltRoute One obstacle that my district is facing is the possible elimination of IXL. While I personally take full advantage of the resource, if a percentage of teachers are not putting it to use, then it can be cut from the budget. We are trying to convince them otherwise #AltRtEd #EdTech

Research shows that preparation and training to use educational technology are key factors when examining the use of educational technology. For Question 2, we want to hear about your experience. #AltRtEd #EdTech

@tea4me55 @RutgersAltRoute Yes! I agree professional developments are important to help us learn the resources first. I find myself googling a lot to try to find new, fun resources for my students.

@RutgersAltRoute A2: It takes me a while to figure out how to use the resources that are out there to get the most out of them. More professional development would be beneficial. #AltRtEd #EdTech

@RutgersAltRoute A2: Definitely training my students to use the chrome books at first was difficult. Teaching them to log in to their devices took some time and since they are so little they don’t know how to type or use the mouse pad so they get frustrated #AltRtEd #EdTech
