What I find especially bizarre about JS is that he is experiencing problems that I personally told him that he will face - months ago. For example I told him that according to Zambian law, you would not be allowed to undertake political activity mobilisation without a political party umbrella. In Zambia only political parties have the legal rights to disseminate political information - that is the law. For whatever reasons, he takes no notice of what he is told or the law as it currently stands. A whole bunch of Zambian laws is absurd and too restrictive on citizens' rights and they would need changing (which change for whatever reason JS opposes). But you can not possibly expect the laws of Zambia to change for you overnight because you have turned up have something you want to do urgently.

Since independence, Africa’s biggest issue isn’t even corruption. It’s POLITICAL CAPTURE: where state institutions are used to make decisions that benefit a few persons at the expense of citizens. Corruption is illegal & can be tried in court, political capture isn’t illegal. 🤨

Too often in Zambian politics, we easily condemn MPs as selfish when they defect from one party to another once elected. This article has challenged my thinking and shows that the reasoning of some Parliamentary elected officials in Zambia is more complicated than we assume !!
Sishuwa Sishuwa@ssishuwa

@FMwenge I conducted in-depth interviews with 10 Members of Parliament who moved from one political party to another over a 25-year period to understand their reasoning or motivations. Their responses, analysed in this open access article, were fascinating. doi.org/10.1080/030570…

The World’s Growth Engine Isn't Where You Might Think 🌍 As I toured @norrskenEA, and came across the Rwanda Centre for the 4th Industrial Revolution, some thoughts came to mind... For decades, the global conversation around Africa has been framed through the lens of "potential." But in 2026, it’s time to retire that word. Africa isn’t just full of potential, it is already the indispensable axis upon which the global future turns. If we want to understand where the world is going, we have to look at three critical pillars: 1. The Gatekeeper of the Energy Transition The road to Net Zero doesn’t just run through Silicon Valley or Beijing, it runs through the African soil. From the Democratic Republic of Congo’s cobalt to Zimbabwe’s lithium and Zambia’s copper, the continent holds the critical minerals essential for the global shift to EVs and renewable energy. Africa isn't just a participant in the green revolution; it is its foundation. 2. The World’s Creative Lab By 2050, one in four people on Earth will be African. But this isn't just a "labour force" statistic. We are seeing a demographic dividend characterized by a generation that is born digital. This massive young population is leapfrogging legacy systems to build world-class solutions in FinTech, AgriTech, and the Creative Industries. When you have the youngest population on the planet, you have the world’s highest concentration of fresh audacity. 3. A New Paradigm of Innovation Whether it’s the expansion of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) or the pioneering of mobile-first economies, Africa is redefining what resilience and agility look like in a volatile global market. The Key Wrap up The global community needs to stop viewing Africa as a "development project" and start seeing it as a primary partner. The future of global energy, the future of the global workforce, and the future of global consumer markets are all being shaped in Lagos, Nairobi, Cairo, Lusaka, Kigali, and Johannesburg among others, right now. The question isn't whether Africa is ready for the world, it’s whether the world is ready to keep up with Africa.

The day the Affordable Care Act passed was one of my proudest moments as president, because it meant that millions of Americans would have access to health care, some for the first time. The ACA also prevented insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions coverage, allowed young people under the age of 26 to remain on their parents’ plan, expanded Medicaid, and so much more. But the ACA was always meant to be a first step. We still have to do more to expand access and make health care more affordable for everyone.
