Not everyone comes from a background that recognises this kind of courage. Not everyone comes from a society that “allows” women to rise to the occasion so it's okay to doubt and call courage “woefully”.
But one honour you cannot take from her is that, she is the “Influential African Woman of the 20th Century” that's not a joke. She did something women from your side of the world can never do, that's why she is all over history books and archives around the world.

Ghana, the former Asante Kingdom, was most certainly complicit in the Slave Trade. As were other African peoples such as the Dahomey Kingdom current Benin. I don't hold a grudge against them, but we, the people they sold, are not going to pay them one red cent for reparations.

Ghana didn’t sell slaves, Ghana didn’t exist then. Some locals were involved but much of it was driven by violence. Chiefs were threatened, killed or removed to force participation. Don’t rewrite history to dilute the scale and responsibility of the West's industrialized slavery
