@oregonmermaid59 @ZinnaMicah @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 Oh I’m with you! I’ve been guilty of that. I think we all are. Hard not to want things for your children. Or us. And a lot of it is never used! But at the end of the day I think we all overdo it within our means. lol
English

@Pammadonna @ZinnaMicah @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 Right! Man I look back on all the stuff I've donated to charity and think, "Look how much money I could have saved and I hardly even used this!"
English

A 40-year-old working mom of two just said what a lot of women are quietly thinking after years in the corporate grind:
“I fell for it. Go to college, get the degree, you can have it all — career, kids, the whole thing.
I don’t want to do it all anymore.
I want to take my kids to school, pick them up, be there when they get home, chaperone field trips, volunteer, go to the gym, clean the house, do laundry, cook dinner… just be home.”
She’s blunt: “It’s not worth it. Don’t fall for that sh... Find a way to be with your family.”
It’s raw, honest, and hits different when you hear it from someone who’s lived both sides.
Moms (and dads) — have you ever reached that point where the “have it all” dream started feeling like a trap?
What would your ideal balance actually look like if money or societal pressure wasn’t part of the equation?

@Pammadonna @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 Good! You’re smart and obviously very capable. Women should have financial independence.
English

@oregonmermaid59 @ZinnaMicah @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 Agree! And if a mom wants to work great….but children can be raised on one income. I raised my son alone from birth with just my income. It got hard but I did it. Like you said be smart and budget and also don’t get sucked into the material things that are unnecessary. 😊
English

@Pammadonna @ZinnaMicah @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 Yes! I know it's not easy but it can be done. We have to be smart shoppers even if we don't have families and budget for the extras and fun things. Those should be treats: living simply will help a budget immensely!
English

@lisn2jays_lisa @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 Also my original test said yes it should be a choice. If the mom wants to work great but the thought that you can’t raise children on one income is what the main point was.
English

@Pammadonna @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 Wrong! Women work because most households require 2 incomes. The cost of living is high just for the basic necessities. And if a woman wants to work she should. We work, raise our kids, and take care of our homes. You can do both and do both well.
English

@oregonmermaid59 @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 And for anyone to say you can’t raise a child on one income anymore…I am proof you can I raised my son alone with one income from day one. And no I did not have govt help. You just have to be smart and thrifty 😁
English

@EricBerdene @Pammadonna @newstart_2024 Well, then you just answered your own question. You aren't ready or willing to have a family because the base line ALWAYS begins with making sacrifices. Until you get past that hurdle, stay single.
English

@ZinnaMicah @EricBerdene @Pammadonna @newstart_2024 Exactly...raising a family is a massive sacrifice. Nobody wants to give up themselves any more. We live in a very selfish, self centered world.
English

@Tone214567 @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 Listen I was/am an only parent since my sons birth had only my income and I made it. Had to make sacrifices but I raised a great young man.
English

@Pammadonna @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 You grew up in the 70s and 80s…inflation has increased the price of everything since then. When you bre up, you could probably buy multiple pieces of candy for 50 cents. Now, a full dollar barely gets you one.
English

@floridamom3 @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 They sacrificed the materialistic things so the mother could be home with her children. Again it should be a choice if the mother wants to work or not.
English

@Pammadonna @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 Yes but how did people make it on one income? The cost of living skyrocketed
English

@floridamom3 @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 The average yearly income in the 70s was 10K the 80s was 17K.
English

@Pammadonna @EricBerdene @newstart_2024 Sure but rent isn’t $350/month and a new car isn’t $6000 and gas isn’t $1.50/gallon
English

@EricBerdene @newstart_2024 I was talking about material sacrifices.
English

@Pammadonna @newstart_2024 I appreciate the reply ... and all replies in general ...
There is one key word in your response that stands out ... "sacrifice" ... Being able to raise a family should be the base line, not a borderline insurmountable goal requiring sacrifices ...
English

@newstart_2024 The women’s movement in the 70s-80s (while it needed to be done) made it an expectation for women to work. Rather than a choice. My two cousins had families in the 90s and they stayed home and were looked down upon. I wish I could have stayed home but I was an only parent.
English

@EricBerdene @newstart_2024 See I disagree with this somewhat. I grew up in the 70s and 80s. Mom stayed home but we had a small house kids shared bedrooms one car one bathroom. Sacrifices were made for moms to stay home. People want all the material things now.
English

This is not a career route vs. stay-at-home mom problem, as much as it is a financial problem.
Being a home maker is not as much as option than it was a few decades ago ...
The sad truth is, that most couples have a hard time paying the bills even with both of them working.
Gone are the days when the man could earn enough to buy a house and support a family. These days, both men and women, cannot even afford rent and have no choice but to live with their parents ...
English

@amandadavey23 Have always said this! They would sell so many more clothes. Upwards lighting! Downwards lighting is the worst.

@TVanderklok Aw Happy Engagement Day! 🤍 You picked a good one Tim 😊
