YOUR CANCELLED PS PLUS MEANS NOTHING TO SONY players are cancelling subscriptions to protest the death of discs. here's what that protest looks like from sony's side of the table: - subscriptions and network services bring sony about $5 billion a year, per its own financial reports - roughly 50 million people are subscribed. sony stopped sharing exact numbers - one industry analyst ran the math: even if 500,000 people cancelled in protest, that's 1% of the subscriber base. not enough for sony to blink and that scenario is generous. the petition against killing discs - the loudest number this protest has produced - sits at over 270,000 signatures. even if every single signer also cancelled a paid subscription today, sony would earn that money back in one eight-hour shift. and most of them haven't cancelled anything. sony just told investors the subscription had its most profitable year ever. the same analyst says the backlash was expected from day one - the plan is to simply wait until the storm passes. and many of those who try to cancel get offered a discount on the way out. a drop in the ocean. and sony owns the ocean. honest question: if cancelling doesn't hurt them - what actually would?

People keep saying this, but these percentages do not include free to play games, PS+ games or DLC, because that would be stupid. I don’t get why so many viral posts are claiming this. The % is full game paid sales via digital download (which does include digital only games)
