Our second cell culture suite is almost ready for operation. Note the beautiful industrial design ceiling.

Just retweeted the powerful film concerning the criminalising of refugees. I don’t usually tweet political matters but my paternal grandparents fled a civil war and found refuge in the U.K. They wouldn’t today.

It's official! The Salk Cell Cycle Meeting will start on 24th July. Here's the stunning poster referencing astronomical clocks created by Beata Science Art @beatascienceart. Jan, Silke, Tony and I hope to see you all there!

Some happy news: Jörg Mansfeld has been awarded a CRUK Senior Cancer Research Fellowship to pursue cell cycle regulation by Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). Many congratulations, Jörg, on the award of this extremely competitive fellowship!

@JSheltzer Great idea! Royal Society Open Biology, of which I’m the Editor, would welcome this.

We submitted a proposal to a journal to review these new techniques/findings. They said they don’t accept reviews that rely on preprints. What a backwards policy - their reviews will be out-of-date when published! So, any suggestions for a review journal that likes preprints?

Can anyone recommend a review journal in genetics/cell biology/cancer that would welcome a review article based primarily on relevant preprints?

We are in the bizarre position that the last set of ERC Grant awardees in the UK have to reject their grant so that the UK Government will pick up the tab...

That's it - we can no longer apply for ERC grants. UK Science is currently in a sad place. We are unable to take to take a full part in the European scientific community that we find so welcoming and beneficial.

Saptha has been brilliant in optimising FCCS but is moving to a new position (though he'll be able to help get someone started). Join us to elucidate the mysteries of mitosis in living cells.

FCCS has already given us unexpected insights into how the APC/C recognises Cyclin B1, and how Cyclin-CDK complexes are assembled. Now we are addressing how the Spindle Assembly Checkpoint works!

Excellent talk by Luca at the Consequences of Aneuploidy meeting honouring Angelika Amon @FASEBorg #Aneuploidy22. I think Angelika would have approved.

A colleague, not a native speaker of English, has submitted a manuscript and received this reply (pic) which he doesn't understand. I am a native speaker & I don't understand it either. As far as I can see, the references in the manuscript are correct. Any ideas what this means?
