There are eight ways to arrange 4 pink and green dots in a row so that now two consecutive dots are pink. How many way are there to arrange 50 pink and green dots this way?

People don’t know this but I’m somewhat of a detective. People love spreading rumours about how BSY acquired his wealth and love of the arts. He’s been hiding his identity in plain sight BSY is BIG BIRD

@FreddieForThis @SubwayTakes Yes! This! This is why I turn off subtitles. If I miss a line that feels crucial - often because of bad mixing, or the modern decreased importance of intelligibility of speech in film - I'll rewind and put the subtitles on. But then I turn them off after I know what's going on.

@SubwayTakes I don’t mind subtitles but one issue I have with them is that I end up reading what’s said before it’s actually said, which can sometimes cause a big dialogue reveal to lose a bit of its impact

@misha_studio_ I love this, and it's a good reminder for me to do the same. I do love the prints as much as the plots!

like I think so much about what I do is just looking at images and trying to feel something... I want to articulate that more. it's hard, it's like talking about why a song you listen to slaps... we like art and music because we need to communicate in ways other than words.

I had to write an artist statement, something I struggle with... (an artist I admire once said "my artist statement is that I don't like artist statements") here's what I came up with:

@misha_studio_ I did it with lines of changing thickness, where the thickness changes at every joint. That ended up being more work. I don't remember the whole thing but this pic from my notes is relevant. I never did work out those various edge cases, though!

@misha_studio_ For the rounded corners? On the inside you use the lines as you have them, but on the outside you have to make a circular arc. The arc starts and stops at points determined by moving perpendicular to the segment lines.

Experimenting with a stroke outlining algorithm—this is a debug view showing how the outlines are traced and adjusted. Still a very basic approach that doesn’t handle all edge cases, but it works for now for what I want to do with it. #creativecoding #p5js

@jeffgdavis @ArtOnBlockchain @genartfound Very cool. I'm both a practicing artist and a high school educator working on developing a creative coding class. If curriculum development initiatives fit into the scope of your foundation, I'd love to stay connected to that.

Erick and I are thrilled to share some exciting news! Since establishing the Generative Art Fund in 2021, it’s been our dream to broaden our charter and champion the field of generative art beyond fiscal support. Today, we are proud to announce that we’ve officially evolved into the Generative Art Foundation, with an expanded mission. Our new focus areas include: Opportunity: Expanding opportunities for creative coding by supporting organizations that merge art and programming, and championing diversity and inclusivity. Education: Fostering public appreciation of generative art through educational events and cultural exchanges and serving as a resource for academic research. Preservation: Securing the future of generative art by researching and implementing digital preservation solutions and building a diverse collection of artworks. Partnership: Collaborating with museums and other art institutions to integrate generative art into exhibitions and facilitate on-chain acquisitions. We invite you to contribute to our mission. Your donations enable us to maintain current giving levels while expanding our scope. Since 2021, more than $1.5 million has been donated by artists and individuals who believe in the future of generative art. We are now growing our endowment to secure the foundation’s financial stability and ongoing impact. For more information, please visit our new website (link in 🧵) and follow us @genartfound. If you’d like to contribute or learn more about how to get involved, please send us an email or direct message. The easiest thing you can do to help is amplify this post. Thank you for believing in our mission and for joining us as we begin an exciting new chapter in the story of generative art. Sincerely, Jeff Davis & Erick Calderon Co-Founders, The Generative Art Foundation

Hello anyone out there who may still see my posts - I am going to keep this account open for now, but I'm also going to Bluesky. Instead of using my rectangleworld handle, I decided to use my real name. I'll be happy to connect with you there. bsky.app/profile/dangri…

@RectangleWorld I'm not really that concerned. If having to explain what isn't AI-generated becomes a thing, I'll deal with it. Just an intrusive thought that I hadn't encountered before. 🤷‍♂️🧐

Have to admit, it is a bit of a bummer when you sketch something, only to realize it looks like it could be AI.
