After a few early what I would call “soft foul” calls, we are starting to get settled down to holding the game on the edge of chaos and order. One more thing: the more missed shots, the more rebounds and usually that means more fouls. 2 opposing forces at work here.

@jwasports @AyersRefTracker I disagree, I think it makes a huge difference! Referees are like players! They need practice to stay sharp and referees need to see plays to stay sharp. First few mins tonight they will be feeling their way for a variety of reasons! Now working will be one of them

John, refs are used to working a game almost everyday + travel, and they are always on the move. Now in the last 3 weeks, they’ve worked 3 games total. Is rust/not being sharp a thing with refs? Or is the extra “rest” a good thing? Or none of this matters?

Sounds like the game starts tonight at 9:20. The guys working tonight, Ron Groover, Jeff Anderson and Terry Oglesby will have lunch today w/ Committee members and find out who’s the R, U1, U2 (everyone is paid the same). Last chance this season for questions and comments.

@johnmathias Exactly! Your clip doesn't show it but the rotation wasn't deliberate which may have caused confusion. That being said the new C sprinted past the play only to have to sprint back. Lots going on there.

It looks like there was a rotation right before this and the center official (now trail) didn’t pick up the rotation, and then you end up with two centers and nobody covering the half court line.

@DavePasiak @RealMitchHowe It happens all of the time during the NFL playoffs. Nobody ever thinks it was a distraction when the Super Bowl winning team loses three coaches.

@RealMitchHowe I think that when it happens that quickly there were obviously serious discussions at the same time they were prepping their team in the tournament, which has to be a distraction. And it's hard to present to your team that everyone is all in when behind the scenes you're not.

There have already been multiple instances of coaches taking other jobs less than 24 hours after their team is eliminated from the NCAA Tournament. Does anyone else think that this is an exceptionally bad look on several levels?

@brucekmoore1 @OdellBretthamJr I don't think critiquing college officials is plaguing recruitment of new high school officials. More of the issue resides with parents at lower levels and to some degree other officials who don't want to be mentors.

@OdellBretthamJr These hyper critical posts about officiating are exactly why we can’t recruit or retain officials at the high school level. Please reconsider or better register and out yourself on the court. It’s not that easy.

@jwasports @NCAA I agree which is why I put the quotes around my use of that. Call a travel and the 1st thing you hear is "that's a eurostep!" In fact someone said it on here awhile back - officials shouldn't get caught in the name of moves for this reason

Quick reflection on the day: We’ve played 60 some odd games so far and there’s really been only 1 possible klunker. That’s remarkable. My personal highlights today were:
Mass in person at 7:30 this morning and blocking the A hole who called me “an arrogant prick”. Cya tmw.

@jwasports @VUCoachJWright Hope to see @gman564 get his chance this year. I think he did an Elite 8 game a few years ago. Good guy and runs a couple of good officiating camps in the summer.

My thoughts: @VUCoachJWright is a helluva coach. Hung w/overall 1 seed with depleted team. Very well officiated game. Remember, I said it was “big boy basketball”?IMO Breeding and Pollard go in F4 pool. Jarrett had very good game too, just needs more seasoning.
