I’ve been saying it for years, Columbus is the Sun Belt, but without the sun. I’m really not sure I understand the appeal. I’ve lived here a total of 7 years between two stints in my life. It really is the capital of Anywhere USA. It is big in fast food corporate HQs, state government, and insurance. The huge majority of Central Ohio is spread out and decidedly suburban. It is nothing to write home about, but also not bad enough to actually leave. You settle into just being pretty comfortable.

Columbus is sort of the Universal American city. Oddly, it somewhat looks and feels like Sunbelt suburbia, yet is located about where the Midwest and East meet, and you can even feel some southern influence. It's also much bigger than you might imagine.
