@The0neulost I don't think there's a real confirmation they graduate? They just finish the Twinkle Series. Time is a mess in Umamusume anyway. 3 years pass in one career but no one grows up and Rudolf and Maruzen have been at Tracen for decades. People are getting mad over illogicality

I genuinely don't blame Toby for rarely interacting with the community because you could be as clear, polite and genuine as possible explaining completely understandable things to your community and still get shit like this dismissing literally all of it

@Kaelicles @marshyzaku Maybe Toby doesn't like to rely on someone telling them "don't worry, the translation fits the notes" and prefer to be sure of it himself
Maybe it sucks but I don't really blame him if he thinks that way honestly. Plus I'd argue he's a bit busy with Deltarune

@Simbel_ @marshyzaku If Toby were to work with a Spanish translator, all their attention would be on those hard lines to translate, and they would work with him to find the best solution. This is exactly what happened with the Japanese translation

He talks about translation as if translators were just bilingual people saying words and not actual professionals who spend years getting a degree to be able to do their job. Translation leads exist for a reason, they’re the bridge between the client and the translators-

UTDR fans must only play Deltarune because it really doesn't take long to find a series where the official translation is being torn apart because the "professional translators" thought they knew better. I'd be scared of my work being translated into a language I don't know too

@Kaelicles @marshyzaku Toby isn't just concerned about the small lines, he's a perfectionist who wants the translation to be in-line with his vision of his creation. Otherwise he wouldn't give a damn and just throw the script, some notes and money at the first localization studio he found and move on

@Simbel_ @marshyzaku When you work with translators, the only thing that you should be concerned about slipping under your radar are throwaway lines like that. They are obviously going to consult you on important plotlines since that's their job
