FROM/DE:   Huronia West Detachment       DATE: February 9, 2025 2 DEAD FOLLOWING COLLISION ON COUNTY ROAD 27 (Huronia West, ON) - Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) closed County Road 27 for a serious collision involving three vehicles, on February 8, 2025. On February 8, 2025, at approximately 11:55 a.m., officers responded, alongside with local Firefighters and EMS, to a head on collision involving three motor vehicles on County Road 27 between Flos Road 11 East and Baseline Road. An 80-year-old male and a 77-year-old female, both of Midland, were pronounced deceased at the scene, two others were transported to local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and one was transported a Toronto Area Trauma Centre. County Road 27 remained closed for most of the day on February 8, 2025, while members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Team conducted a reconstruction investigation. As of February 9, 2025, County Road 27 has been reopened and if you were a witness or have video footage of the collision, we ask you contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or your local area Crimestoppers. Our new frontline Pumper 811 has arrived and had its first official bath! Over the coming weeks the new truck will be outfitted with all its equipment and our operators will obtain their driven hours for it to be put into frontline service for @MidlandON!

There is a major structure fire at Peter Street and Mississaga Street in Orillia (Jan. 21, 2025). The downtown core is closed. Please stay away from the area. Power is shut off to the block. All residents in the area are advised to stay indoors with windows closed. Stand by for updates.

At approximately 15:55 Midland/Penetang fire was dispatched to an “off-road” MVC at Hwy 12 cross of Hwy 93. 16:05 Midland Fire, Simcoe County Paramedics and SGB OPP on scene, located patient in unknown condition and are beginning extraction via penetang fires Argo.

This weather poses a challenge for Paramedics and other responders, and although there may be delays, we will get to you when you need us! Our Remote Response Vehicle helps extend our reach and can go where an ambulance can’t!
