@bluetherobot @Support @discord_support @discord To me the most frustrating thing is that they tend to not lock down compromised accounts (ever), so it’s even harder to put a lid on the problem because the hackers are still active.

Hey everyone! Just to make it official here, we are no longer with this X Account. It has been hacked, and it is no longer under our control. Still waiting on @Support to give access back, but no luck. Even though we have access to the original email associated. Same with our @discord server. Please do not click on any links from anyone saying they are associated with Incursion Red River. @discord_support

Would love to be proven wrong about how pathetic @discord_support is. But my months of trying to help a friend in this exact situation tells me they don’t actually care. Their safety and trust team care about neither of their namesake. They don’t care and that is dangerous.

Well. The hacker is literally laughing while Discord just…hands over the keys to my account/server. I’ve never seen a company so incompetent as Discord in all my years on the internet. Now we’re going to have to figure out what next steps to rebuild our community :(

@Jam365 @discord @discord_support is just a parody account. Tried for months with a friend to get their account back, had complete reciepts of everything, @discord simply sends back auto-replies and automatically closes tickets without resolving them.

@Naaackers The icing on the cake is that even if you report the account to @discord_support with screenshots and the shady link, they don’t take action on the account to prevent further spread. So when communities do get hit, it can spread like wildfire.

Someone got hacked on Discord and lost years of hard work. While unfortunate, use this as a reminder: - In 2026 your default state of mind should be "I don't click links to download things, even from people I know". Since bad actors can bypass 2FA completely with token session hijacking, it doesn't matter when their method bypasses this at step 1. - Even if you know the person, ask them to verify something only they would know before downloading, or ask them to send you a message on a different platform with the information only they would know. Don't give them an email to contact you, tell them to just email you the link. - If you weren't aware, the "I'm developing a game can you give me feedback?" method of this hijacking has been going on for years. If you get a message from someone you know that asks you to download something within 5-10 minutes. Fishy. Block em. If they are actually your friend, they'll find another way to contact you. If they aren't, fuckem. - As an absolute last resort if you JUST HAVE TO click a link from Discord. Screenshot it, use a tool to extract the text, and paste it into a BROWSER YOU DO NOT USE EVER. I keep a browser installed just for this. Or, send it to your phone which most phones have a 'read text from image' feature. Or preview said link in a browser. - Your other default mindset and expectation should be that Discord support does not exist and cannot help you. You are likely a non-paying user, they have no obligation to help you. Discord has hundreds of millions of active users every single day. They also have just a few thousand employees. If you do get help, expect to wait months. Like, 3-6 months. The math makes it impossible for them to help you swiftly. Twice in the past month, two different accounts reached out to me. They started with normal conversation, even referenced previous conversations we'd had, which is a step further than this tactic a year ago. I assume it's stupid easy now to have an LLM scan your message history and summarize talking points. Then after a bit of chatter, they transition into getting you to download. Be safe out there

BTW - How this happened: I was setting up an interview with an Unreal Programmer. He sent me his portfolio, we chatted about gamedev etc. His account was hacked in the middle of that conversation and he sent me a game to check out that "his friend was working on" - I should have known, but it felt natural in the conversation about games he was working on/had a hand in. The guy bypassed my 2FA, requested a "Verification Key" to view my backup codes on Discord. Discord just sent it to him without any sort of security screening, questions or anything. Just gave him the keys. This email was sent to him, he got my backup codes, accessed my account, changed password and added his own 2FA - locking me out of the account.

This is why I'm checking out Discord alternatives. Fry had a large community and Discord just showed their whole ass here. Incompetent and arrogant enough to demand our personal information. One of these alternatives need to step up, now.

Just going to keep posting this shit here. The guy is now pretending to "give me my account back" but clicking "verify" in this email. This isn't my Discord account. Waiting for someone at @discord to shut this shit down.

And I can still see my friend’s account that was hacked 7 months ago is actively used by the hackers despite multiple reports to @discord_support

@EvilSecOfficial @BikeMan @discord @discord_support The crazy thing is that even if you have a credit card and/or phone number attached to your account, they defer entirely to the email connected to it. So despite being able to prove via credit card records and ID that it is your account, the automated system only uses email.

@BigfryTV @discord_support @discord It’s not just weekends, a friend of mine also had his account and the account email both hacked. @discord_support is non-existent any day of the week. Even with a credit card attached to the account he couldn’t recover it because you never get a human.
