A innocent Nigerian was invited to the Police (Ogombo Police Station) today, being 6th April 2026, being a public holiday, he had nothing to hide so he obliged. He was detained in the morning & since then till now they’ve refused to tell him the basis arrest. His lawyers got to the said station and requested to see the DPO, the said DPO refused to see his lawyers. WHY IS THE DPO HIDING? They avoid going to the police station because once you get there, everything becomes official. Paperwork. Records. Other officers. Less room to intimidate or collect money quietly. On the road, they control the situation. No witnesses. No accountability. They can pressure you, scare you, and get what they want fast. At the station, that power drops. I have a real issue with how stop-and-search is done. Private cars get pulled over constantly, but those run-down korope and danfo buses almost never get checked. Meanwhile, those same vehicles are often overcrowded, barely roadworthy, and the easiest places for anything suspicious to go unnoticed. Selective enforcement like this defeats the whole purpose of policing.

Another victim. Same officers. Same pattern. He was stopped, searched, then forced into their van… just because he has tattoos. They labeled him a criminal without proof, threatened his life, and made him transfer ₦205,000 for his freedom. This isn’t policing. This is extortion. This is the officer that collected someone’s driver’s license and drove off, expecting them to chase him to the station when all their papers were complete. How is that not theft? How is that not abuse of power? This is exactly how intimidation and extortion starts. They take what belongs to you, then force you into their system. Please, for your own safety, always move with a photocopy of your driver’s license and keep the original safe. Don’t hand over your original unless absolutely necessary. This is not policing, this is oppression. Using uniform and authority to take from citizens is nothing but theft. If this has happened to you, speak up. Quick tip, if u see Policemen at checkpoints all with their uniform and rifles, and u see some other people with just the camo round necks with sticks or just black shirt with sticks, most of them aint policemen, they are the one that will extort u for the ones wearing uniform.
