I condemn today’s military escalation in the Middle East. The use of force by the United States & Israel against Iran, and the subsequent retaliation by Iran across the region, undermine international peace & security.   All Member States must respect their obligations under international law, including the Charter of the @UN. The Charter clearly prohibits “the threat of the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.”   I call for an immediate cessation of hostilities & de-escalation. Failing to do so risks a wider regional conflict with grave consequences for civilians & regional stability. I strongly encourage all parties to return immediately to the negotiating table.   I reiterate that there is no viable alternative to the peaceful settlement of international disputes, in full accordance with international law, including the UN Charter. The Charter provides the foundation for the maintenance of international peace and security.

Hi, Dalia. I can certainly understand your displeasure. I have seen Christian preachers scream "Repent your sins" at people. Nothing could ever drive people away from Jesus faster. However, I have little background in Islam, and every impression I get of Islam from the news is negative. I am concluding that Islam is my enemy, and it is us or them. I have to eliminate Islam from America, or Islam will eliminate me. If you don't want this result, it is incumbent on you, not on me, to put messages out there to counteract the messages that are being given. If you don't, one of the two groups will be eliminated. There will be a big fight. And somebody will win.

As a Muslim, I am personally offended to see my religion humiliated in the streets like this, and my spiritual exercises being materialized and weaponized to project street power against the authority of the liberal democratic state. "Let them know we have taken over New York City ... Allahu-akbar!" ... said the Imam/political activist who gathered thousands of Muslim men in Times Square under the pretence of performing Ramadan's Taraweeh prayer, which is supposed to be a spiritual practice in a quiet mosque fully dedicated to purifying one's soul after a day of fasting. This was not a prayer as it should be. This was a flex of street power... something that no sane human should accept. Let alone the huge violation they did to one of Islam's most sacred spiritual practices -- Ramadan's Taraweeh Prayers. October 7 was the worst day of my life. It was not only a tragedy for Israelis, but for us Palestinians as well.
