This rocket never actually went to space as it esentially performed as well as a basic sounding rocket.. BUT DAMN was it cool... But expensive...

Havent gotten far.. But this is the first sounding rocket to reach 200km vertically.

@KomoriTL @musclesap I think its the mission to go 3000km to 5000km downrange. But on my 16th run Ill push materials first as you said.

@TappyWapiVT @musclesap I spent a long time on the 300km mission too. It's RO and not really a rocketry problem so I think it's fine to spoil the "answer". It's borderline impossible to do it without materials tech. Making the tanks lighter goes a long way for downrange and other future missions.

and so it should, these games are how future aerospace engineers are made the people who will design and build a city on mars are currently flying the Shitfuck 7 into the sun and having the time of their life

@KomoriTL @musclesap im on my 15th run right now. ive been able to reach karman line and even double that height... but I cant seem to figure out how to do the downrange.. today I tried and only reached 300km

@TappyWapiVT @musclesap same boat but from my experience RP-1 made me learn the Vis-Viva equations to figure out if I had enough delta-V to orbit the earth RP-1 will put voices in your head and the voices won't stop until you learn the math

@taukingur They did have some plans drawn up but Ig it was just theory back then. But I hope this time we do more than just getting there. But idk why going to space doesnt seem to entice more funding for apollo back then.. it seems like a really important thing.

@TappyWapiVT Nope, the plan was to just get there, as executed. They knew the funding wasn't sustainable and weren't planning on going further

I related it to apollo not because its going to the moon. Im relating to the apollo because the only reason they went to the moon in apollo and got funding was due to the sole fact that they wanted to be better than the soviets. NASA after the apollo missions basically had the same plan as us today but never got the funding or anything due to the collapse of the soviet union and the "winning" of the space race.

@Truthful_ast @taukingur This genuinly feels like the plot of For All Mankind. and im all for it. Im going to be so excited to see the first landing of the moon but im honestly abit cautious as I dont know will anything go through especially the history NASA has with congress. Im not american btw.
