Phil Mickelson shot a 4 over, 75 in his return to the course for the round one of LIV South Africa. To be expected honestly. He looks to be swinging the club well, plenty of speed still, just made a few big numbers. 3 more rounds to continue to shake off the rust.

🚨 BREAKING: Phil Mickelson is back. The Masters is on. Yes!

So, Phil’s out for LIV Singapore. Obviously we don’t know what’s going on and hope for the best. Golf wise, LIV South Africa is all that remains before the Masters. If he doesn’t play there, it’d be 7 months off competitive golf going into Augusta. Would he really do that?

@bleedblue17 @samflanagan77 He still hits it far enough to properly play any course, but he has lost substantial distance over the last 2 years.

@samflanagan77 @TrackingPhil He still bombs it off the tee. It’s not like he’s using a fairway wood on approach into a par 4 like I need to do on occasion.

Phil will miss his third straight LIV event to start 2026. He’s not playing this week in Hong Kong. Hoping everything’s alright. Is The Masters in doubt?

@TrackingPhil I dont see how Mickelson could be ready to play the Masters. Its a month away & he hasnt even played a competitive round this year. Maybe he plays (idk) but it would be gracious for him to let his slot go to someone else at this point. I am a HUGE PM fan but it is what it is.

Phil Mickelson announces he will not compete in the first two LIV events due to a family health matter. Third event on the schedule is March 5th in Hong Kong.
