@MitchATreadwell @MIAviationKing Yeah … dining, shopping, and culture is not a strength in that area. However, that’s why it’s peaceful with no traffic issues, no overcrowding, and affordable (and available) housing.

@MIAviationKing @UpchuckReality Oscoda is nice (headed there tomorrow to do a canoe race). Unfortunately not a lot of great options for cultural opportunities or interesting food (and some troubling chemical contamination issues), but there's scenery!

Petoskey, a small Northern Michigan town with fewer than 6,000 year-round residents, has joined the ranks of Nantucket, Mass. and Napa, Calif. as a luxury housing market where more than half of new home listings are priced at $1 million or above.
Realtor.com identified 13 “pure luxury” U.S. housing markets where more than half of all active listings are priced at $1 million or above. The report, released April 8 and based on March 2026 data, put Petoskey in 11th place, with 53% of its active listings priced above $1 million.
Petoskey’s median list price in March was $1.11 million, according to the report. Data showed the northwestern Lower Peninsula city has an average of about 104 million-dollar-and-up listings per year.

@Lydskia @MIAviationKing So you’re another loser troll and a Covid Warrior who exists to argue with strangers on social media over opinions. I don’t have time for your juvenile bullshit. Fuck off.
English

@UpchuckReality @MIAviationKing Okay, so you’re a moron. Do you really think you wouldn’t be yelled at in AA or Detroit and the surrounding areas if you weren’t wearing a mask? I fucking live here, you dunce
English

And add to that that the West Coast of Michigan is also the left coast. All these towns were created by cottagers from left-wing Chicago and the surrounding area. During the scamdemic, people along Lake Michigan towns were absolutely nuts. A bunch of mask warriors and VAX warriors. Lunatics. No one on the east side yelled at you for not worrying a mask, or ever asked for a vaccine card.
English

@UpchuckReality @MIAviationKing I am familiar with TC's problems. But I'm not sure why you're bringing it up? It's still true that the coastal west side is more appealing than equivalent out east for all of the reason I stated, and that will always be true.
English

Listen to yourself. “The coastal West side is more appealing than the equivalent out east for all the reasons I stated…” Oh, and “that will always be true.” 🤡
That’s your fucking personal opinion and your personal preference. What’s “appealing” is subjective to each unique individual. Are you really lost on that concept? Next you’re gonna tell me the color red is better than the color green in every way, even though I prefer green for my own subjective reason reasons.

Go on some of the community Facebook pages for Traverse City, for instance. Especially in the summer. Look at all the complaints about traffic, lack of parking, etc. And then go look at the crime reports, which keep increasing. And then go look at the people complaining they can’t afford to live there anymore, and they have to move an hour away in order to work in town.
English

@UpchuckReality @MIAviationKing Unfortunately it is not as beautiful nor as built-out as the west side. The landscape is flatter, the towns are more isolated and smaller, and there is just all-around less infrastructure. Also, all around the Lake Huron coast, the houses are ALREADY wayyyy overpriced.
English

Everything is overpriced everywhere. We’re still in the midst of a housing bubble. But the Lake Huron side is way more affordable than the left coast of the state, and some people like the more isolated and smaller towns because you don’t draw all the crazy tourists, crowds, and impossible parking. It’s quieter, which is why it appeals to sportsmen, hikers, hunters, fishing, etc. It’s a choice because we’re not all the same.
English

@BeardNBourbon @MIAviationKing Lake Huron provides sunrise. Lake Michigan sunsets aren’t worth $1.1 million a year for a modest home. I can drive for my sunsets.
English

@UpchuckReality @MIAviationKing Not taking away from Lake Huron cool places but Lake Michigan provides sunsets whereas Lake Huron does not (at least from the Michigan side).
English

@MIAviationKing For 40 years, I’ve watched the entire western coast of Michigan explode as far as property and housing prices. Many of the older, smaller cottages on the lakes have been replaced by McMansions.
English

@UpchuckReality Now I haven’t been over on that side (yet)- but I’ve been curious. I’ve seen maps showing that area is growing too. I know Alpena is over there, it’s fairly remote but has some beautiful stretches. Any good notable spots?
English

He’s definitely not talking about the SEC.

“MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+” The Canadian government just dropped this absolute monstrosity (and no, it isn’t satire).

I was a victim of our War Secretary’s media moment on April 8 since I was on the treadmill at the gym with TVs everywhere. The entire propaganda session was a sack of lies and woefully unsophisticated propaganda. They attempted to turn a massive foreign policy blunder into a big win by the tough guy, super-negotiator Donald Trump.
