Like I 100% get if the women didn’t want to come forward, were scared of retaliation, didn’t want to relive it, etc.
But — and please correct me if I’m wrong about this — as a reporter you can still report on the story or at least notify the authorities about it.
Even if they are just suspicions without any hard evidence or even any solid leads. Let them do that part.
To my knowledge, there’s no ethical or legal responsibility as a reporter to keep that information private. You’re not a lawyer or doctor.
