Challenger POTD Challenger Braga 🇵🇹 🇦🇷 Trungelliti ML @ 1.714 (2u) (Pinnacle) This is the perfect spot to fade Gaubas because he is on his last legs here from what I've observed. Gaubas just came off winning the Lisbon challenger and was genuinely impressive in his run but he spent 10 hours 11 minutes on court in his run which included a 3hr 06 minute finals against Rocha. After playing on the 28th , he travelled from Lisbon to Braga and had a brutal match against Gadamauri where he spent 3hr 37 minutes on court where he conceded 10 break points and got broken 3 times. Gadamauri also saved 17/22 break points he conceded which shows how incredible he was against Gaubas in efficiently holding his games under pressure but after such a tiring battle , he went to 3 sets again with Marco Cecchinato in a match that lasted almost 3 hours again. In these 2 matches , Gaubas took multiple MTO's for his shoulder and although they seemed tactical , it was very evident that he was running out of gas. He again conceded 12 bps while only converting 5/22 that he faced and I think despite his poor break point conversion , he was relying a lot on return to pressure his opponents but Trungelliti is a much better player than Cecchinato and Gadamauri. He was impressive against Squire and Pereira and despite being 35 , he should be much fresher than Gaubas. Trungelliti is also the much better returner and server and won't give Gaubas the room afforded by those 2 and imo he clearly has the level to take him out here . This could potentially be a 3 setter with Gaubas coming out hot and fast but eventually fading away but Trungelliti is one of those players who's very efficient in 1st sets so I'm sensing a letdown for Gaubas here with the guy who is 14-1 in his last 15 challenger matches getting the better of him Like if tailing 🤍
