They have the power to do this. ✅ demand a public apology & retraction from any Liberal Party members who disparaged Moira in public following her preselection loss - eg Louise Staley (above) & Heath Wilson (above). If they refuse, revoke their membership. Permanently. There is no place for this sort of unhinged abuse in the Liberal Party. We need to enforce basic respect, decency & manners - and if you’re not capable of this you don’t belong in our party. ✅ urgently review candidate preselection screening to prevent these sorts of debacles. (I’ll have more to say on this later).

They stabbed her in the back once, they’ll do it again. In Victoria, One Nation are likely to have several new MPs elected at coming state election, and they are going to need a few experienced hands. In the South Australian State election, they had Cory Bernardi to lead the way - in Victoria they need something similar, and Moria Deeming would be idea.

This is an opportunity to course-correct – to right wrongs. All Victorian Liberals should now get behind the magnificent @MoiraDeemingMP. Moira should have been pre-selected in the first instance. But with the successful candidate now having withdrawn after recent revelations – and questions to be answered about pre-selection screening processes – it's time to back Moira. Victorians deserve that women and girls – and indeed all Victorians – have strong, principled representatives in public life. Back her in now.

Why would anyone in the liberal party listen to you? You are a spruiker for One Nation. What those of us in the a liberal Party know is that One Nation may have a few wins, but they are incapable of governing. The problems the libs face are immense. But there is no alternative for right of centre voters. It is up to members of the LP to redouble their efforts to develop a stable and compelling policy platform. Listen to Hastie on Insiders yesterday. Could you imagine Hanson giving such a comprehensive and articulate assessment of the challenges this nation faces. One Nation is a sideshow.

The Victorian Liberal Party is an absolute disaster. The left don't have a clue. Their latest shambles, a concerted effort to roll Moira Deeming - a woman who took a stand for common-sense - for a dubious character that has already collapsed. They don't deserve any votes.

This debacle illustrates what happens when all the good people give up and stay home. Moira is left high and dry without a base. She is a candidate that should have a massive following. The Party is the people that turn up when the crucial decisions are being made. I'm pointing the finger at myself right now too.

Yes, 100%. I hope she doesn't opt for the quick dopamine hit of joining One Nation. No established political figure that went that way has a good story to tell. It seems her time in the political wilderness will last longer than it might have, or should have. But she remains destined to be a leader of true substance in this country.

Moira Deeming is a national hero. The Victorian Libs are beyond help.

@BillMuehlenberg Don't do it Moira. I know that it would be gratifying in the short term, given your terrible treatment at the hands of some in the Liberal Party. But you are meant for better things. Nobody that has defected to One Nation has benefitted from the move.

There is no question that One Nation is now on a real roll, and someone like Moira would be a great addition to the ever-growing team, with the likes of Barnaby Joyce, Cory Bernardi and others.
