Everyone's scared AI will replace software engineers. Let me calm you down with the truth. AI cannot replace the engineer who: - Debugs a production system that's been running for 5 years - Explains a broken API to a CEO without losing her - Makes the call when two valid architectures both have trade-offs - Unblocks a junior developer 20 minutes before a critical deploy - Knows which shortcuts are fine and which will hurt you in 6 months AI writes code. Engineers make decisions. Those are not the same job. The engineers who get replaced are the ones who only ever typed. Not the ones who also thought.

Agents won't vibe-code a new Slack every time they need to communicate. They'll use the same Slack because the other agent's team also uses Slack. Traditional SaaS will survive because standards don't get disrupted by probabilistic code generation. Network effects and standardization still matter.
