@zui_cat it's def possible for him to have 1 wife. as long as the emperor is politically savvy & powerful, chinese history is full of them breaking convention: the Hongzhi Emperor had only 1 wife, Emperor Xuan made basically a laundry maid an Empress, Wu Zetian become a female sovereign.

i've seen a lot of people wanting him to become emperor, and i get it, because jinshi and maomao really do care about the people. but politics isn't something you can do alone, and when it comes to power, it's almost impossible for everyone to be on the same page.. and if jinshi becomes emperor, there's no way he'd only have maomao. it's his duty to produce heirs, and having just one woman wouldn't be an option. to me, jinshi becoming emperor means choosing a path without maomao, and that honestly feels like a death sentence for him.
