The story of Japan's gift of cherry trees to the US is one I've always found especially touching. They are a lovely gesture of friendship and diplomacy. PM Sanae Takaichi added 250 additional trees to celebrate the US's 250th birthday on her recent visit. The state of US-Japan relations today is nothing short of extraordinary.

It's a windy Stage 5: Puffy White afternoon. Cherry trees have adorned the Tidal Basin since the first gift of trees from Japan in 1912. They are living representations of friendship between two nations. Help us preserve them by not picking blossoms or climbing trees. 🌸🌸🌸

The American - Japanese Twitter Alliance has been wholesome thus far, but I think we need to go further and have Elon promoting a stronger brotherhood & setting up cultural exchanges, from Budo, Bujutsu & BBQ, to Guns, Gyms & Gear. If we can cross pollinate our autists, we'll be an unstoppable force. TRUMP-SAMA, we need to fast track visas for this mighty cultural exchange!

@StephenPunwasi The United States developed atomic warheads in the 1950s that weighed ~50lbs, and it had to survive thousands of Gs. It could be made lighter. Your other comments in this thread are similarly wrong. We had nuclear missiles that weighed ~200lbs for the entire flying vehicle!

FYI a nuclear suicide vest isn’t feasible due to basic physics. Nuclear explosions require critical mass, which means slamming the particles together. It needs space, so containers are large & heavy. This isn’t limited by tech. It’s limited by physics and reality.

Since my last tweet was about the USAF using modern aerial mines to "bottle up" Iranian missile bases, today is the perfect day to look back at the granddaddy of all aerial area-denial campaigns. Today marks the 91st anniversary of the start of Operation Starvation (March 27, 1945), where USAAF B-29s traded firebombs for naval mines. While people often fight about Coral Sea or Midway or Leyte Gulf as the key turning points of the Pacific War, very few can argue against Operation Starvation as the most efficient and effective naval-air campaign of WWII. For a tiny diversion of 6% of the total B-29 sorties, the campaign sank more tonnage of Japanese ships in the final months of the war than all other methods combined - including the must praised submarines. 1/2 🧵
