LIVE: The Future of Investment and Innovation 💹🌍
At the 7th @FitspaUG Annual Fintech Conference 2025, the panel discussion “The Future of Investment and Innovation”, proudly sponsored by the Capital Markets Authority (@CmaUganda), explored how Uganda’s financial markets are adapting to emerging technologies and attracting international capital.
Moderated by @lyn2ki, Communications & PR Manager at Capital Markets Authority (@CmaUganda), the panel featured:
🌟 @GraceSemakula, CFA, CEO, SBG Securities
🌟 @AlleyIriza - Manager, Legal & Board Affairs @CmaUganda
🌟 @stsatyajit - Regional director, Advisory @GtUganda
Bob Musinguzi - Head of Depository,
@USEUganda
🌟 @AlleyIriza emphasized the evolving nature of financial innovation: “It is not possible to regulate every product, as new innovations emerge daily. At Capital Markets Authority (CMA) Uganda, our regulatory frameworks focus on outcomes, not just compliance. The regulatory sandbox is one way we support fintech innovation while maintaining market integrity.” She also highlighted CMA’s vision to attract more international capital to meet the financing needs of both government and private sector, ensuring the fintech ecosystem has access to resources and partnerships to scale sustainably.
🌟 @GraceSemakula, CFA noted that fintechs have a significant role in positioning themselves within existing markets, using technology as a key growth driver. On the equity side, while growth has stagnated to some extent, private sector opportunities and a strong pipeline signal potential for expansion.
🌟 Bob Musinguzi shared Uganda Securities Exchange’s vision to be Uganda’s preferred institution for investments and capital sourcing. He introduced USE Edaala, an unquoted securities platform for companies not yet eligible for public listing. The platform connects companies to professional investors for equity and debt funding, allows private companies with multiple shareholders to trade shares, and leverages existing trading and depository systems for efficient portfolio management.
@stsatyajit emphasized the role of institutions in driving impact, maintaining ethics, and offering tailored services. By combining expertise, experience, and personalized approaches, organizations can bring meaningful change to the investment landscape.
The panel underscored the importance of balanced regulation, innovation, and investment, illustrating how Uganda is positioning itself as a hub for digital finance, investment growth, and international collaboration. 🚀💡
