You’re deliberately presenting a half-truth. No one has a problem with Iftar it’s a personal and religious right. The issue is what was done there. Going onto a boat in the Ganga, consuming non-vegetarian food, allegedly throwing waste/bones into a river that millions consider sacred this is not just “Iftar”, this becomes a matter of respect for religious sentiments. Varanasi isn’t just any place. The Ganga is not just a river it holds deep spiritual value for crores of people. If any group, from any religion, does something that pollutes or deliberately provokes sentiments in such a place, legal action is justified. Law is not against religion. Law is against irresponsible and provocative behavior. Before asking “what sin”, ask was the act respectful, lawful, and responsible?
