Peel Regional Police say under Project Icarus, former Air Canada captain Geoffrey Wall of Barrie was arrested and charged after allegedly flying more than 900 flights over 17 years without a valid licence and submitting forged credentials.
He joined Air Canada in 1998, became captain in 2009, retired in 2025, and now faces charges including fraud and public mischief following a Transport Canada regulatory review.

BREAKING: A former Air Canada captain has been arrested and is facing seven criminal charges after allegedly piloting more than 900 flights since 2009 using fraudulent and counterfeit licensing documents, Peel Regional Police announced Tuesday as part of an investigation dubbed Project Icarus.
Anomalies in the pilot's airline transport licence were detected in March 2025, triggering the investigation.
Air Canada says safety was not compromised, noting the pilot held a valid commercial pilot licence and consistently passed mandatory recurrent training- but lacked the required airline transport pilot licence mandatory for captains of large aircraft in Canada.

Police warn of phone scam
Police are warning the public to be cautious of a phone scam that appears to be spoofing a Halifax Regional Police phone-line.
Today, Halifax Regional Police received several reports of people receiving phone calls from the department’s non-emergency reporting/dispatch phone number 902-490-5020 which appears on the call display. The person claims to be from the Halifax Regional Police and advises the victim that their personal information was compromised as part of an international scam.
If you receive a call like this, do not provide or confirm any personal or financial information and hang up the phone.
Scammers can spoof phone numbers to make it appear as though they’re calling from a trusted source. Do not give personal information to anyone by phone, email or in person unless you are certain of their identity and the legitimacy of the organization they represent.
Several of the reports today were from other areas of Canada. If you have received a call like this and have given any personal or financial information to the scammer, please contact your local police department.
