Seeing who you are, accurately, is absolutely vital to making any kind of movement toward growth. Be curious about how other people see you. Be discerning, receptive and sturdy. Even the most exaggerated comment might have some truth.

@tohuvabohu I guess it depends what you mean by "prefers order". Can you prefer chaos, all the way down, as a Christian?

If you are a person who prefers order, but knows that chaos can bring some good things, is it sufficient to try to be *ready* for the possible chaos, or is that still too passive? Should you be *asking* for it? Is it in between those, to seek to increase surface area that's exposed to it?

It was fun to have our friend, Jubal on to discuss his new @JubileeClinic business and where the idea came from -> @tohuvabohu . So we thought we’d have Sean on too (dropping soon).

Medical CARE is better than insurance coverage. I'm actually really thankful for insurance. I've used it, ha. So has my family. And yet, the CARE is what matters most. Seeing a doctor when you need to, knowing your doctor who also knows you/your family, these are things insurance can't promise. There's a new direct primary care clinic opening in Marysville: Jubilee Clinic jubileeclinics.com The guy who is starting it goes to our church. His name is Jubal. I can vouch for his faith, his character, and his desire to honor the Lord and bless the community. He was recently on a podcast with a couple guys who also go to our church (they are the @contraratics), and I highly recommend that you watch the whole episode here: youtu.be/r04mU_zlEGc

@tohuvabohu The need for growth should be an assumption for us and our children and thus the "lack", likewise should be an expectation not surprise.

The difference between rookie parents and pro parents is not how old their kids are or how many kids they have. The difference is that a rookie parent keeps being surprised by what their kids don’t know, can’t do, or are having a bad attitude about. The “pro,” so to speak, is almost glad about it.

but to acknowledge where she’s at and help her out. Help her see what’s next. There’s a time to weep and then there’s a time to move on. There’s no step-by-step manual for it, but seems like a good principle.

“Crying is all right in its way while it lasts. But you have to stop sooner or later, and then you have to decide what to do.” (The Silver Chair, C.S. Lewis) Men, crying happens. What she needs from you is to be well-differentiated enough to not descend into the abyss with her

When the sourdough pancakes keep flowing and everyone is filled… THY PLATE RUNNETH OVER. Sometimes you only see what you want to see. Is your bank account dry but your table full? Take the blessings from His hand today and walk in faith. Don’t miss the pancakes.

Delaying discipline of your children doesn’t bless your child, your family, or others. When they are in fellowship, the people are blessed. So go and bestow blessing - even when it’s inconvenient or cumbersome.

Shots fired from @tohuvabohu 💥💥 “[As a believer,] sitting this one (election) out, is a mindset that is ‘Destruction masquerading as Piety’.” What does it say about you (and God) if you’re willing to close the door on your bomb shelter while destruction ensues?

If you find yourself tempted with envy, remember you are only seeing the success of the other person, not the failure or struggle they too have had to bear. Take your lot and plant in the soil you’ve been given. Fight and laugh. The enemy has no power there.

I’ve witnessed this within companies I’ve worked for but it got me thinking if I’ve ever leaned on this crutch as a parent. I’m sure I have without calling it exactly what it was. I want to lead in faith, not fear.

Expecting wise, well-differentiated decisions while “teaching” with your own behavior that fear is the functioning leadership currency will lead to frustration and dysfunction.

A thought on leadership: If you expect your people to fear your response to a displeasing action or decision, expect fear-based behavior from them.
