@janeroper Most I know have day jobs and people have said mean stuff to me about mine, or at least been disappointed. An HR lady said I must not be very good if I had to get a job. I’ve gotten more negative judgment for having a day job than I have for dating someone 20 yrs younger lol

How do so many writers not have day jobs? I don't mean bestselling authors; I mean mid-list or not even on the list ones. I know many, and am baffled. Do they have partners with high-paying jobs? Family wealth? Do they subsist on cat food and ketchup packets? I don't get it.
