@AstralPreobraz1 @uralwolga the Russian Federation is a continuator state (therefore, legal successor) of both the Russian Empire and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Ergo, it is bound by any treaties ratified by the Russian Empire unless explicitly denounced or rendered obsolete 🙃

Russia and Ukraine are modern state entities that emerged from the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, respectively. There was no evolution, but sharp break involving mass killings and decades of consolidation from preceding states.

@AstralPreobraz1 @uralwolga Russia is a modern state entity about as much as Spain is, both of which evolved from feudal entities to modern bureaucratic states. The Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth on the other hand doesn’t even exist anymore. Your entire argument is just seething which is rather pathetic.

@monemanfade @uralwolga Rus split up in 1132. Rzeczpospolita inherited the Galician-Volhynian parts that included Kyiv, and Belarus via Lithuania. Neither Rzeczpospolita nor Muscovy or its rebrand as the so-called Russian Empire are modern state entities. You deal with anachronism again.

@Steve_Laws_ Where is your ancestry cut off point? What year exactly? What year in history are we saying English people are JUST English and not from anywhere else? This country was FORMED by immigration for thousands of years. You're so brainwashed and you don't even see it

I would rather lose every game with an English team then win with a foreign one. You people don't get it. International football is not club football. It's about giving the best English talent a shot at the cup. Not rounding up people from all over the world and pretending they're English because they were given citizenship. It makes a mockery of the whole thing.

@LisVilliers @Steve_Laws_ We’d be worse if they were just fully English. You ethno nationalists are the thickest cunts alive

@AstralPreobraz1 @uralwolga so now its only about claiming ukraine exclusively when before that we were discussing which modern state entity could derive its legitimacy from the Rus? 🙃

@monemanfade @uralwolga Ukraine was part of Lithuania and Poland for centuries. The pathetic attempt by Muscovites to fully integrate Ukraine lasted barely 100 years. A reflection of the project’s dynastic, historical and cultural illegitimacy.

@AstralPreobraz1 @uralwolga Of course you have, you went from talking about how some country bumpkin felt about muscovites in the 17th century to some balkanite shit flinging contest about whether poland or russia has a bigger claim to an ahistorical nation that justifies its existence through metaphysics.

@monemanfade @uralwolga I never shifted in any way. Rzeczpospolita (not simply Poland - you are a victim of anachronism) was the legitimate heir of Rus. Ukraine is about as ahistorical as “Russia”, other modern nations.

@AstralPreobraz1 @uralwolga Sure anyone can make claims but nobody would make them seriously Though its kind of cute that you shifted from “ukraine being the real rus” to “poland being the real rus”, admitting without words that ukraine is an ahistorical, metaphysical entity🙃🙃

@monemanfade @uralwolga Anyone could make dubious claims to justify anything. But the Polish kings were the heirs of the Galician dynasty and thus the legitimate dynastic rulers of Ukrainian lands in central Rus. The Rurikids in those lands were integrated into Rzeczpospolita.

@AstralPreobraz1 @uralwolga it doesn’t matter when they were written, chronicles aren’t taken seriously as primary sources due to author bias and propaganda value. And this doesn’t counter the fact that the muscovites had dynastic claims over the territories they seeked to conquer.

@monemanfade @uralwolga Chronicles were written long before Romanticism. They just pointed to the fact that Muscovites were perceived as foreigners and outsiders by the Rus of Ukraine and Belarus.

@AstralPreobraz1 @uralwolga This is just laughable, if you actually understand that those countries were united through blackmail, mafia tactics, threatening of military occupation (such as with bavaria being forced to join the reich). You’re just reinventing russian exceptionalism from 1st principles

@monemanfade @uralwolga Sure. Those unions succeeded (even if most of original Prussia was lost). Muscovite attempt at union was much more tenuous and failed, reflecting the dubious and ahistorical nature of Muscovite claims.

@AstralPreobraz1 @uralwolga both had a dynastic claim to the rus, the russians won, the poles lost. Its as simple as that.

@monemanfade @uralwolga The historical anachronism is that of the Muscovites. Dynastic legitimacy rested with Rzeczpospolita. By the time Muscovites started claiming those lands ideas of legitimacy were shifting into other factors, friendly for Ukrainian nationalists.

The Irish left have to resist treating American racial justice movements as relevant here. They were necessary in the US but in Ireland they make no sense African immigrants deserve to be treated as equals like any other immigrant group. Thats a privilege we can proudly offer

@AstralPreobraz1 @uralwolga point is, the bullshit you and other ukro pushers are peddling is historical anachronism, that treats medieval country bumpkins as having dormant national consciousness who can simultaneously claim identitarian and dynastic legitimacy to compensate for being an ahistorical ppl.

@AstralPreobraz1 @uralwolga Or i could go further. italy was formed by sardinia piedmont, was proxy buffer of france, germany was united by prussia with half of its territory not even being part of the historical germania, spain was united by castille through backstabbing and political alliances.

@AstralPreobraz1 @uralwolga Who cares if they were foreigners? The normans were foreigners as well, william still had a claim to the throne. Taking chronicles which served as ideologically motivated propaganda pamphlets is laughable, what mattered were dynastic claims, not romantic notions.

@monemanfade @uralwolga The relevant Volhynia Chronicles in western Rus lands considered Muscovites to be foreigners and wrote of wars of Rus, Poles and Lithuanians against Muscovites. You are projecting early modern and later Muscovite claims into the past.

@ZeodrakeV Technically it's not wrong. But I'm not sure the algerian under the french colonial rule would have the same opinion. Colonialism is more complex than just "evil foreign power", but in the end it's still a foreign power that recolt all the fruits of your labour.

Under the French Algeria flourished. It was one of the wealthiest, industrialised colonies in the French Empire and anything positive it has now is directly related to the so called "violent occupation". Without the French there would be no Algeria.

Under the USSR Ukraine flourished. It was one of the wealthiest, industrialised republics in the USSR and anything positive it has now is directly related to the so called "violent occupation". Without the Bolsheviks there would be no Ukraine.

@AstralPreobraz1 @uralwolga “Muscovy” on the other hand was part of the rus, founded by members of the Rus, with its leadership deriving descent from the ruling elite of the Rus. Ergo in the Feudal-Agrarian society where claims were dynastic, the “Muscovite” claim eas perfectly apt and reasonable
