I'm not kidding here. The Finnish Supreme Court found that Paivi's publishing her pamphlet on an internet site was fine until November 2019. But after that, it was a crime. How? Because prosecutors announced they were investigating the pamphlet. Which apparently should have put Paivi "on notice" that the statements "could be" considered insulting. So when she reposted links to the pamphlet to defend herself, she now could be said to have the requisite intent to commit a hate crime. The Court said she should have removed the offending lines before republishing ... even though she hadn't been convicted of anything, or even had charges brought against her. So if she hadn't defended herself, she'd be innocent, but because she did, she became guilty? Upside-down world. Orwellian.

🚨BREAKING: Päivi Räsänen unanimously acquitted for her Bible tweet, but convicted of “hate speech” for a 20+ year-old church pamphlet The conviction is under the “war crimes and crimes against humanity” section of Finland’s criminal code, alongside Bishop Juhana Pohjola.

“With mounting evidence that mifepristone is much more dangerous than the FDA ever acknowledged, it’s shocking that the Trump Administration has adopted such an aggressively pro-abortion stance: it approved a new generic mifepristone, it is claiming States should be barred from bringing their suit against mifepristone, and it is even fighting against AAF in court not to release mifepristone documents demanded by Congress.” - @MarcWheat AAF's General Counsel
Katelyn Walls Shelton@AnnaKateShelt

“President Trump’s very own pollsters report that 70% of likely voters favor a required in-person visit for abortion drugs, and 90% support updating the label to reflect real-world risk.” So why is he defending Biden-era abortion pill policies in court? My latest for @WNGdotorg.

Louder for the faux-baptists in the back. 👏 👏 👏
Daniel Darling@dandarling

Some of the most robust protections for Christian ministry, secured at the Supreme Court in the last couple of decades by the tireless work of orgs like @ADFLegal and @firstliberty, were argued on the basis of The Religious Freedom Restoration Act (1993) which was passed by Congress in response to the infringement of the religious liberty of a non-Christian religion by the Supreme Court.

He was a great Christian leader and a kind Christian man. Of all of his (many) accomplishments, I was always struck most of all by how much his children, amazing Christian leaders themselves, loved and respected him. That is a legacy beyond measure.

The below conundrum for the #prolife movement exposes the limited utility of a one-party strategy, for any issue. The possibility & durability of policy increases with bipartisan support. Alas, the issue is hyperpolarized and the lone “prolife party” is trending the wrong way.
Dan McLaughlin@baseballcrank

Pro-lifers should not be cheap dates for Trump & the GOP. But they must never throw their support to Democrats, who are quite open about their maximalist pro-abortion policies. Still less should they embrace Talarico, Warnock, & other Christian false prophets of abortion.

Republicans are going to have to figure out a way to deal with two realities: There is an issue with Islamist extremism and that there is a segment of immigrants coming to this country to defraud and destroy it. And also There are many more Muslims in this country who have been here for generations. Who have families and are valued members of their communities. And who we agree with on a lot of issues and could form alliances. But not when we have Republicans in Congress saying Muslims have no place in our society.

Life among difference is reality. Democracy is the method for living with each other with differences—proven by the best of American history and setup by our Constitution. Let’s conserve that.

@griffingulledge The question remains, how do trustees and institution heads find the courage to ignore the edgelords?

This is one of the best posts I’ve read on this phenomenon: the social media edgelord. It’s important we identify this behavior and disciple it out—or decidedly avoid it.
The Gospel Coalition@TGC

You’ll find him on podcasts and in pulpits, but everything he does is for social media. He’s the man who has confused being provocative with being profound, who mistakes the ability to offend for the courage to lead. He is the edgelord. thegospelcoalition.org/article/edgelo…

I appreciate @albertmohler's concerns on empathy, but I'm just not going to abandon using the word because the left has weaponized empathy. I think it's a good to word to use to explain part of loving one's neighbor is understanding what they're going through in life, even if you think they're wrong. And I don't think sympathy really covers doing that. I feel like I'm caught between those who think empathy means affirming someone's sins and those who think we should abandon the word altogether. Again, I appreciate the sound wisdom, but this also strikes me as a very online thing happening right now as part of the right's omnicause.

@DesnoyersG @edstetzer +1. That kind of store can recommend aftermarket insoles accordingly. Better to get the fit right early. 💪🏼 • budget to replace earlier than you’d like. • Depending on frequency of use, consider 2 pairs. Evidence suggests it takes a day for the support to reform after use.
