Gentle reminder that now(fall) is a fantastic time to chat with a coach on how to set up your training for next season. ALL too often I get emails in April looking for help for races in May and June. A few tweaks here and there will help but the big gains come over the winter.

@thewannaberacer Agreed. Smoother, less brakes, feeling comfortable on the tech sections can reduce stress, more relaxed means smoother. Smoother=faster. But I’m no expert. If I felt comfortable I was faster.

I think working on saving a second here and a second there is a better way to improve my overall time than loosing weight to knock a chunk of time off a climb.

After 2 O Cup races, looks like I'm solidly 20 minutes off the winner. That's a lot of time so let's start with figuring out half of that 10 minutes. Fine, 9 for math's sake. Best way to make up 9 minutes? Or 3 minutes a lap. Or 180 seconds.

As a sport program coordinator and coach these wildfires and AQI has some March 2020 vibes to it. Do we cancel? Do we race? Do we train? Mixed guidance from different sources. Didn't think we'd be back here so soon.

@thewannaberacer @adamd_ab Snowshoe with a kid or two on the back or dragging a sled with them is less equipment and less driving, but more dependent on the good white stuff

@adamd_ab Have been interested in adding xc skiing but feels like another equipment heavy activity is a bit much. Also the time commitment of driving to groomed trails is not ideal.

Everytime I think about getting a winter bike and doing winter riding, I remember it's the darkness not the cold and snow that discourages me from riding outside.
