Martin Short‘s daughter Katherine died Monday in Los Angeles. She was 42.
“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” Martin Short’s rep said in a statement. “The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
Katherine died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

If you work hard and contribute to your community, you should be able to buy a home, raise a family, go to work close to where you live, see a doctor, and retire with dignity.
California is too expensive for that right now. I'm running for governor to change that.
Last night, I held a town hall in Oakland to discuss my plan for shared prosperity in the state we all love.
To really drive down costs, we need a governor unafraid to make corporations and billionaire CEOs pay their fair share. We need a governor who puts families ahead of special interests.
I've taken on oil companies, closed corporate tax loopholes, and pushed billions back into schools and clean energy. I'll do it again as governor.
Our state's affordability crisis won’t be solved by the same politicians who got us here. We must change how things work in Sacramento, because their approach has failed.
That's why I'm running, and that's why I need you with me.
