full of the purest metaphysical good humour timelessly intelligent and timelessly amused a star explodes and a thousand worlds like ours die, we know this world is the smile: that what might not be, is John Fowler, "The Magus"

Infinite Loops 🎙@InfiniteL88ps

What actually drives great founders? In this episode of Infinite Loops, Johnathan Bi (@JohnathanBi) explores why action may depend less on truth than we’d like to admit — and why delusion, ambition, mysticism, and meaning might be more connected than they seem. The goal of US foreign policy in Asia should not be to contain communist China but to demonstrate beyond a shadow of a doubt the technological and cultural superiority of Western civilization.

Your Habits do 1 of 3 things: 1. Build you 2. Maintain status quo 3. Regress you During your day, take note of which habits are doing what... And you can easily see opportunity to level up.

The only scenario in which the mullah regime can be toppled involves destroying Iran as a state. That means blowing up the energy infrastructure and sending the country back into the Middle Ages, plus decades of sectarian violence. Call this the Iraq scenario.

The Iranian regime is built for survival – it's fundamentally ghetto and government by committee. There are 10,000 mullahs in the theocratic branch of the state as well as numerous paramilitaries such as the IRGC. The feudal regimes in China and Russia are much more fragile.

It's unlikely that the regime in Iran will be toppled without direct involvement by US troops on the ground. There is too much at stake for those in power and too much power asymmetry between the ruling classes and ordinary Iranians, most of whom are unarmed.

I have yet to meet someone who isn't better than they think they are... And this applies to people who operate at incredibly high levels too. Whatever level you think is your peak, there is always more.

Linus Torvalds created Linux at 21 without Claude or any other AI. - He didn't have a co-founder. - No VC funding. No office. - No team. - Just a personal project he posted to a mailing list: "I'm doing a free OS." 33 years later, it runs 97% of the world's servers, all smartphones, and the International Space Station. The most important software in history started as someone's side project. Absolute legend.
