It’s pretty unequivocal — negotiations to remain suspended until the US meets Iran’s conditions. However, it’s unlikely that much of the western media or others will present that stark fact without layering to obscure the heart of the matter. Especially given markets are opening tomorrow.
Al Mayadeen English@MayadeenEnglish

According to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in Islamabad, direct negotiations between Iran and the United States remain on hold, as #Iran's key conditions for dialogue have yet to be met by the US. In this context, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s visit to #Oman carries particular weight, given Muscat’s longstanding role as a trusted mediator between Washington and Tehran, our correspondent added. Meanwhile, #Pakistan’s role at this stage remains limited and has so far been unable to influence or advance developments, as per our correspondent in Islamabad. #IranWar #WarOnIran

It is quite remarkable to witness how rapidly Finland’s capture by NATO has transformed its foreign policy — while at the same time curtailing options for the EU as a whole. The system is working precisely as intended. It is subordinating European policy to the interests, first, of Washington, and, second, of a European oligarchy long hell-bent on dismantling the last remnants of its social democratic compact. Decades from now, we will learn that the entire process — including the sudden rise of a new cohort of second-rate leaders whose only calling cards were their rabid support for NATO — was carefully engineered by the Pentagon working in cahoots with the Finnish military-industrial complex.

And they want to fight China… The US couldn’t hold Guam, let alone defend Taiwan. It’s possible that US would have to evacuate Pearl Harbor. US bases were destroyed throughout the Gulf states and its aircraft carriers forced to more than 700 miles from the Iranian coast. Taiwan is 100 miles from China. Okinawa, South Korea, Japan, and the Philippines will suffer the same as UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Australia wouldn’t be out of range either. This is what a 21st century vs 20th century war looks like. The US was forced to retreat TWICE by Ansar Allah/Houthis in the Red Sea and is now in a war it started with Iran where the only logical and sensible option is to withdraw. Yet, the answer in DC is to spend trillions more via a corrupt military industrial complex on a Pentagon incapable of winning; all justified by “inevitable” war with China. The only thing inevitable on this current course is further American defeat, a hastened and ugly end to American primacy, and the very real possibility of a cataclysmic war.

It should say something about America rn that the guy who invented Cherry Garcia now has to spend his time reminding us that they’re cutting your Medicaid to buy bombs.

Ben Cohen, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's, was arrested after confronting Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about Gaza during a hearing on Capitol Hill: “Congress sent the bombs that kill children in Gaza and paid for them with cuts to Medicaid,” he shouted before his arrest.

In today's @just_security, my colleague Hannah James & I analyze Speaker Johnson's "new" proposal to reauthorize Section 702. It's the same as the one the House just rejected, and it places no new restrictions on backdoor searches. justsecurity.org/137206/johnson…

Post-Afghanistan, much of the organized crime in Army SF shifted to West Africa. Cameroon was the source of the drugs involved in the huge ketamine trafficking ring broken up at Ft Bragg in 2024; and in 2025, a group of Ghana-born army officers were busted smuggling guns to Ghana

Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As we honor the 1.5 million Armenians murdered by the Ottoman Empire across modern-day Turkey, Syria, and Armenia, we must refuse to let history repeat itself. In 2020, the military forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey attacked the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh. In 2023, Azerbaijan expelled over 100,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, continuing the genocidal campaign that had begun over 100 years prior. On this day of remembrance, we reaffirm the right of the Armenian people — and all people — to freedom, safety, and self-determination.

When the IDF entered Lebanon in 1982, the soldiers encountered a relatively affluent, urban society. Some took advantage and looted, taking accessories, electronics, and furniture from Lebanese homes. These “souvenirs” later appeared in Israeli households, often with pride.

Regardless, it didn’t stop. Evidence shows soldiers “smuggling” goods from Lebanon up to the 2000 withdrawal, and again during the 2006 war; some soldiers even sought rabbinic approval to take non-kosher food from Lebanese homes. (Torat Har Etzion, 12 July 2006)

Also, if I can be frank, I find the attempts to make our condition 'relatable' to the American metropole both intellectually hollow and morally cowardly. When we see white phosphorus over southern Lebanese villages we aren't seeing a 'preview' of American overpolicing but the pure, unfiltered expression of a colonial machine that views the Global South as a laboratory for human disposal. We don't demand an end the targeting of our people because it might 'come home.' We demand it because our humanity is absolute, non-negotiable, and requires no American 'relevance' or appeals to their own self-interest to be defended.

The ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, @jahimes (D-CT), is lying here by denying he's the key ally of Mike Johnson and the Trump WH to provide Dem votes necessary for reform-free renewal of FISA's domestic warrantless spying powers. The proof is beyond clear:
Daniel Schuman@danielschuman

@jahimes @Emma_Dumain @Reporter_Mia @riley_rogerson Your record is support for mass surveillance, not reform & certainly not warrant requirements. The Verge reported you advocating & whipping for renewal w/o changes. It's not yet in the press, but your counsel emailed Ds urging support for a 5-year extension with sham reforms.

You should stop lying. Literally everyone working on FISA renewal on the Hill and in the White House, as well as in privacy groups, knows that you are the key ally of Mike Johnson and the Trump WH to ensure FISA renewal **with no meaningful reforms**. The only thing worse than destroying Americans' privacy rights on behalf of the US Surveillance State is doing that in the dark while lying about it.

After a completely manufactured display of 'remorse' over the desecration of a cross in the southern Lebanese village of Debel, Israeli forces are demolishing parts of the border town, bulldozing solar panels that supply electricity and power its water station.

Deindustrialization in the Rust Belt destroyed an entire society. All the good jobs were destroyed, replaced with absolutely nothing except jibber jabber about "knowledge economy" and financialization producing centibillionaires. People all want the same thing, more or less.

If Democrats want to win, we have to listen to the middle of the country. What works on the coasts doesn't automatically work in places like Michigan, Iowa, or Ohio. Figure out what works in the middle, and the rest follows.
